Work In Progress: “Evening Cup II”

Here’s the current linoleum block, with the carving almost done. I cheated a bit on this one. I think this is the first time I’ve ever used a power tool when carving a linoleum block. I want a tone gradient in the sky, from dark at the top to light at the bottom. I’m doing this by gouging out little divots in the linoleum. These will be little white dots in a black background tone, when the print is done. They are closer together at the bottom, and farther apart at the top. My first attempt at this was with a sharp gouge, which I pressed into the linoleum and then rotated. But I quickly realized that that was going to take far too long. So the little divots are being done with a Dremel tool and a spherical burr grinding bit.
